3 Out-of-This World Beer Flavors

Who says you should have to drink the same “traditional” flavored beer day after day? While there’s certainly nothing wrong with good old fashioned brews, experimenting with some non-traditional flavors is a fun new way to enjoy this beverage. So the next time you are looking to try a new flavor of beer, consider one of the following. While you may “think” you’ve tasted some unusual beers before, they pale in comparison to these weird and unusual flavors.
#1 – Bacon Beer
I’m not sure who started the whole bacon craze, but now it seems like every type of food and drink is made with a bacon flavored variety. There are even several different types of bacon-flavored beer, one of which is Voodoo Doughnut’s Bacon Maple Ale, and yes you read that correctly. This beer contains flavors of both bacon and maple. According to the company’s website, it’s paired best with doughnuts and pork. Now that’s an interesting combination!
#2 – Pizza Beer
Pizza and beer are two items that are simply meant for each other. Whenever I’m sitting at the local pizza joint eating a fresh slice of pepperoni, you can bet I’ve got an ice-cold beer nearby. I guess this is the same type of thinking that sparked the idea of Mamma Mia! Pizza Beer. Tom and Athena Seefurth created this pizza-flavored beer back on Labor Day of 2006. Since that time, it’s garnered quite a following by the beer-drinking community. Give it a try to see for yourself why so many people flock to this highly unusual beer flavor.
#3 – Banana Beer
Yep, there’s a beer out there made with authentic banana flavors. UK-based Wells & Young produce the banana beer, and it’s surprisingly received mostly positive reviews. Beeradvocate.com gives it a respectable 79/100 points. Considering it’s flavored after a tropical fruit, you have to appreciate such a high score. While I don’t think banana beer is personally for me, I’m sure some people will love the distinct sweet and fruity flavors it offers.
The truth is that these are just a few of the countless different varieties of weird and unusual beers on the market. Some of the other ones I’ve seen include pork, chocolate, apple and coconut-flavored beer. When your feeling like taking a step on the wild side, give one of these beers and let us know what you think! Who knows, you might discover your new favorite flavor among them.
