Located in Western Czech Republic, Chodovar is one of the region’s largest and oldest brewers. It’s unclear when exactly the brewery originally opened, but some historical documents point back to the mid 16th century. For centuries, Chodovar remained focused on one clear goal: to produce the region’s finest beer. I think it’s safe to say they accomplished this since they remained in business for such as long period of time. However, more recently they’ve expanded their business into both a brewery and a beer spa where customers can bathe in the frothy beverage.
Benefits of Bathing In Beer
You might be wondering just why in the world anyone would want to bathe in beer. After all, doesn’t it leave behind a sticky, smelly residue? The truth is that beer baths are actually quite refreshing and even beneficial. Studies have shown that the hops found in beer offer a variety of different benefits, one of which is cleansing the skin. If you suffer from acne. psoriasis or other common skin conditions, a beer bath could offer some relief. It’s not some miracle cure, but many people suffering from common skin conditions swear by its effectiveness.
Beer baths also work to exfoliate your skin. As you sit down in a tub of freshly brewed beer, it will gradually remove the top layer of skin along with any oil and impurities. After exiting the beer bath, you’ll notice softer, smoother and more rejuvenated skin. Of course, these are just a few of the many reasons why so many people come from all over the world to experience an authentic beer bath.
About Chodovar
According to their website, Chodovar produces 90,000 hectoliters of beer per year, making them one of the region’s largest breweries. While some people visit the location for their delicious beer, others come to bathe at their spa. Once Chodovar’s brewing process changed, they were left with several unused tubs. Instead of tossing them out, they decided to offer guests beer baths. These baths contain a special dark house beer that’s brewed on site mixed with mineral water. The solution is warmed to a comfortable degree for guests to enjoy.
While the mixture of dark beer and water is drinkable, they don’t recommend guests to drink it. Instead, they’ll bring you a couple mugs of fresh, cold beer to enjoy while you are bathing. If you find yourself in the Prague area, take a trip over to Chodovar. It’s a wonderful brewery and beer spa that’s unlike any other.
