It’s Finally Here: The 99-Pack Beer

Don’t you hate having to make constant trips to the convenience store just to purchase additional beer? The standard six, twelve and twenty-four packs aren’t always enough, especially on occasions when you have guests over. Well, an ingenious brewery has solved this problem with a new invention: the 99-pack beer.
Texas-based brewery Austin Beerworks admitted that its 99-pack beer was originally meant to be a joke. Thanks to the power of social media, however, this “joke” soon went viral with hundreds of eager consumers ready to purchase the monstrous pack. Due to the enormous demand and support they were receiving, Austin Beerworks decided to follow through with its promise and launch an actual pack that contains 99 beers.
It should go without saying that the 99-beer pack isn’t small and compact like your standard “sixer.” According to the company’s press release, it’s 7 foot long and features three rows of 12-ounce cans, with row consisting of 33 cans each. When it’s placed on the scale, the 99-beer pack comes to roughly 82 pounds. In other words, you might want to bring another set of hands if you plan on purchasing the 99-beer pack.
Now for the million dollar question: how much will the 99-beer pack cost? Being that it contains 99 beers, it only makes sense for the company to charge $99 bucks for the pack.
Now for the bad news: the 99-beer pack will only be available in Austin, Texas. The company stated that it has no plans to release the unique pack elsewhere, and will instead focus strictly on sales in its hometown of Austin. Austin Beerworks started with an initial production of just 20 cases (which is 2,000 beers mind you), but a Facebook posting by one of the co-founders said they are busy making more.
If you’re one of the lucky few who are able to purchase this other-worldly pack of beers, invite some friends over to help you knock it out.
“We’re a small brewer. We only sell in our hometown. We’re pretty amazed at how quickly it spread everywhere. It’s really impractical,” said co-founder Michael Graham in an interview with the local news. “We conceived of it just to be silly, but we never thought there would be any real interest from retailers and consumers. I guess we underestimated the power of a stupid idea.”
