With annual sales topping $5 billion, Bud Light is the world’s top selling beer. Coming in at a distant second is the company’s sister beer — Budweiser — at $2 billion. Most people assume these two American-made beers are limited to the US, but the fact is that they’ve garnered a strong following overseas as well.
Fact #2 – First Beer Was Produced 5,000 Years Ago
So, who can we thank for inventing this delicious beverage? The truth is that no one knows exactly who created beer, or when they created it. However, historians believe it was first brewed during the Neolithic Era in Europe over 5,000 years ago. It soon spread to Mesopotamia and the Babylon before making its way throughout the world.
Fact #3 – Beer Is Actually Beneficial
Excessive amounts of alcohol, or just about anything for that matter, is bad for the human body. But drinking 1-2 glasses of beer per day could yield several different health benefits. For starters, beer contains a compound known as silicon, which is shown to strengthen bones. Studies have also shown that people who consume beer on a daily basis are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease.
Yet another health benefit related to beer consumption is the effect it has on the kidneys. By drinking beer on a daily basis, you are naturally flushing out your kidneys. In turn, this leads to a reduced risk of kidney stones and infections
Fact #4 – More Beer Is Consumed on Jul 4th Than Any Other Day
There is more beer consumed on July 4th — Independence Day — than any other day of the year. Approximately 63 million crates are sold on this national holiday, making it the winner over Memorial Day with 61 million crates. People naturally barbeque cookouts with good friends and good beer on these two holidays.
