New Walking Dead-Themed Beer, Filled With Brains

No, this isn’t an early April Fool’s Day joke. There’s really a beer based on AMC’s hit post-apocalyptic zombie television show The Walking Dead. Brewed by Philadelphia-based Dock Street Brewing Company, Dock Street Walker is an American Pale Stout that’s delicately brewed with wheat, barley, cranberry and….. BRAINS!

The Dock Street Brewing Company plans to unveil its new brain-filled beer this Sunday at 7 p.m., which as some of you may already know, is just hours before the final episode of The Walking Dead season 4 airs.

In addition to enjoying the delicious flavor and rich aroma of brain beer from goblets, you can also listen to live music while attending the event. And of course, the Dock Street Company will screen the final season’s episode of The Walking Dead at 9/8c.

In case you were wondering, the Doc Street Walker beer contains goat brains, not human brains (phew, that’s a sigh of relief!). Being that I’ve yet to taste actual goat brains, though, I can’t attest to its flavor. The exact concentration of goat brains remains unknown.

Here’s a list of some of the ingredients found in the new Walking Dead-themed Dock Street Walker brew:

“Dock Street Walker (7.2% ABV) is an American Pale Stout, brewed with substantial amounts of malted wheat, oats, and flaked barley for a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Fuggle hops provide delicate, earthy notes, while the cranberries create a sinister, bloody hue, and a slight tartness. The pre-sparge-brain-addition provides this beer with intriguing, subtle smoke notes. In true walker fashion, don’t be surprised if its head doesn’t hang around forever.

As you can see from the press release excerpt published above, the new Dock Street Walker brew possesses a rather hefty 7.2% alcohol by volume (ABV), which is rather high when compared to other brews. A typical beer usually contains around 5% ABV (some more, some less), but the Dock Street Walker is almost 50% higher at 7.2%.

This isn’t the first time a TV show-themed beer has been released. A brew centered around Breaking Bad was released earlier this year, and the Ommegang Brewery plans to release a Fire and Blood ale on March 31st. But there’s major difference that makes the Dock Street Walker brew stand out from the rest: BRAINS!
