There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a tall cup of your favorite draft beer when attending your home team’s baseball game. Traditionally, ballpark beer is served from vendors, but a bold new machine will allow patrons to dispense their own brews.
The Minnesota Twins’ home field stadium, Target Field, is the first MLB location to receive the self-serving beer dispensers. Created by Draft Serv, Target Field already has two of the machines up and running, allowing fans to pour their own beer rather than purchasing it through a vendor.
The company admits that its self-serving beer dispensers have failed to take off with any momentum in Major League Baseball. With two machines now operational in Target Field, however, they hope this will signal a new era for beverages in the ballpark.
So, what’s the purpose of buying beer through a self-serving machine as opposed to a vendor? Aside from the “cool” factor, patrons may be able to take advantage of lower prices. One of the reasons why ballpark beer is so expensive is because human vendors are required to stand by and physically sell the beer to patrons. Draft Serv’s new self-serving beer machine eliminates the need for human vendors. Granted, an attendee remains on standby to address errors and ensure quality control, but this is just a single employee as opposed to dozens of “traditional” beer vendors.
To use the self-serving beer machines, attendees must first purchase a beer card from one of the concession stands. Beer cards are Target Field currently come in denominations of $10, $20, or $40. Using this card, patrons can dispense their own beer from one of the two machines. Prices vary depending on the variety of beer, but Budweiser and Bud Light are currently being sold for $0.38 cents per ounce.
“Anyone can dispense beer. It’s been done for centuries. But no one knows self-service beverage dispensing and management like DraftServ and there are no other systems that provide the depth of service and value. Self-service is about the experience, the control, and the management of the entire process and this is where DraftServ excels.
If you’re looking to improve controls and efficiency, better understand your brand and customer consumption profiles, and provide an unforgettable brand experience for your customers, there is no better solution than DraftServ.”
