Top 3 Beer Pong Shots Everyone Should Know

washington_1285101_hThe first step towards success in beer pong is to work on your shot technique. Once you are able to nail the ball in your opponents’ cups, you will find wins come more naturally. So, what are some effective shots in this game? Keep reading for a closer look into some of the most effective beer pong shot techniques.

The Arc

The “arc” is performed by tossing your ball high up into the air so it lands smoothly in your opponents’ cup as it travels back down. I guess you could say this shot technique is like shooting a 3-pointer in basketball. In order for the ball to land in the cup, you must toss it high into the air. The trick to successfully performing an arc shot is to shoot it at just the right angle. Since you are aiming up in the air instead of the actual cups, setting the angle is a bit more difficult. Don’t worry, though, as this will come natural once you gain some experience under your belt.

Fastball

As the name suggests, a “fastball” shot is where you toss the ping pong ball at your opponents’ cup in a fast, fluid motion. Instead of tossing it up into the air like the arc shot, you or your teammate will aim directly at one of the cups sitting directly on the other side of the table. The primary advantage of shooting a fastball is the clear line of sight if offers on the cup. Even if you have little-to-no previous experience in beer pong, you can still line the ball up and toss it at one your opponents’ cups. The only real disadvantage is that some players, especially beginners, may toss the ball with too much power, forcing it to go past the cups.

Bounce

If you really want to decimate your opponents in beer pong, you must learn how to perform a “bounce.” Assuming you are playing with official beer pong rules, bouncing the ball on the table before it lands in one of your opponents’ cups will result in a 2-point score; thus, forcing one of your opponents to drink two cups instead of one. Nailing a successful bounce shot round after round will make quick work of your opponents, so try to improve your skill in this shot technique. Remember, though, the bounce shot will only count as a single point if there are 2 cups remaining on your opponents’ side of the table.
